Thank you! It's says "fairy" on his arm. I drew this from a magazine. I think it may have been Metal Hammer or Kerrang that I drew it from, I can't remember. I didn't know that about him...although he had hairy ones in this pic, lol.
Technically, this picture is pretty good. I think it's lacking contrast, meaning it could use lighter lights and darker darks. Also, the eyes seem a little dead. More highlights would definitely liven the picture. Overall though, I like the shading, and the pose is well executed. For some reason, though, the background really detracts a lot from the actual picture. It makes it look cheap. I think if the background was shaded, or maybe even a little more minimalistic, it would add more focus back on the actual image; not on the noisy colors screaming for attention.
I'm sure you've heard this before, but it looks different in person. A lot of the contrast problems has to do with the fact that I switched from mechanical to drawing pencils halfway through this. The background was a mistake, I admit. It was just an idea I had, I did it, screwed up, and didn't look nearly as good as I thought it would in my head. The eyes...well...I was working with a one inch picture in a magazine and my eyesight isn't all that well...lol! The other one I did looks much better I think, I just have a little tweaking to do on it before I scan it. I don't draw portraits very often, especially men, so this is good practice for me. Thank you for your input!
Well, I didn't know what ones I liked more than others, to put up for sale, so I just said hell with it and put almost everything up. But trust me, I've made no money off of my account. I haven't even made up for the cost of buying the account.
Thank you! Trust me, I don't have much patience, but I guess my artistic drive is stronger than my impatience I had to keep everything from the photo in the drawing. It just wouldn't be the same, you know?
